Dr. Geist lives in Selinsgrove with his wife and three children. He has owner and founder of Geist Optometry and has been at its present location since the store opening on January 30, 1995.

He is from Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania and received his undergraduate education at Pennsylvania State University. He received his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and minor in Physics. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1994 from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and Valedictorian of his optometry class.

Dr. Geist completed his internship at the Veterans Administration in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and also at Pugliese Eye Specialists and Ambulatory Surgical Center in Kingston, Pennsylvania.

He is a member of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, Central Pennsylvania Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and has long been a volunteer with Vision USA giving free eye care to the most needy residents in the area. He is also among the first group of optometrists in the nation to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. He is also a Fellow of the American Board of Clinical Optometry.

Dr. Geist is a consultant to a few major contact lens companies including Vistakon (Johnson & Johnson/ Acuvue) and Ciba Vision. He has presented many lectures to fellow optometrists and has done many clinical studies and testing for new contact lenses that have not yet come to market.
